The Band of the Royal Barbados Police Force was established in 1889 with a compliment of 19 serving Policemen. The Band has toured extensively, visiting countries like U.S.A., England, Scotland, U.S. Virgin Islands, Suriname, St. Kitts Grenada, Canada and Germany to name some.
The Zouave Regiment Band was formed in 1979. They perform at many functions in Barbados, to the delight of persons present. Their repertoire is full, from calypso music to classical. In 1999 the Zouave Regiment Band represented Barbados proudly at the Edinburgh Festival and were part of the Military Tattoo. Led by Joe Lovell of Kitchener Ontario, Traces Steel Band has been playing pan in Central and Southern Ontario for over 10 years. The band has developed over time and can assemble as many as 14-16 players depending upon the event. Members of the band are from diverse backgrounds from the Caribbean and Canada who truly appreciate the unique experience and joy of playing pan. The band plays a variety of events from private house parties to Charitable fund raisers, weddings, Corporate functions, hospitals, nursing homes, Church services and numerous Christmas parades to name but a few. Joe with help from other band members also teaches pan through the City of Kitchener and has been providing pan workshops in the schools. Our repertoire includes old dance favourites, island, reggae, classical, modern, popular and traditional religious favourites.
